Dr. Craig Ramey Joins Attention Point Advisory Board

November 2013- Attention Point, a leading provider of online attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) assessment tools, announced today that Craig T. Ramey, Ph.D. has joined the Advisory Board. Dr. Ramey is a professor and Distinguished Research Scholar at the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute, a professor of psychology at Virginia Tech, and a professor of pediatrics at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. He specializes in the study of factors affecting childrenss health and the development of intelligence, social competence, and academic achievement.

Dr. Ramey is an author on more than 250 publications including six books, most recently Abecedarian: The Ideas, the Approach, and the Findings, published in 2012 by Sociometrics Corporation in Los Altos, California. He frequently consults with federal and state government, as well as private foundations and agencies, and the news media. Dr. Ramey is the founding director of several frequently cited studies of child development and early educational and health interventions including the Abecedarian Project, Project CARE, and the Infant Health and Development Program. He currently serves as the chief science officer for the statewide preschool educational program for prekindergarten children in Louisiana. Over the past 40 years, he and his wife, Sharon Landesman Ramey, Ph.D., have conducted multidisciplinary longitudinal research with more than 100,000 children in more than 40 states.

Dr. Ramey received his Ph.D. in Life Span Developmental Psychology from West Virginia University and postdoctoral fellowship in Human Development at University of California Berkeley. In his distinguished career prior to joining the Virginia Tech Carilion Research Institute and School of Medicine, Dr. Ramey led research centers at Georgetown University, University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
